Principles of Ayurveda
The under mentioned theories form the basis of Ayurveda.
Tridosha Siddhanta Theory :- According to this theory, life is the expression (called the Doshas) of three basic aspects named VATHA (small and large interstines), PITHA (liver, spleen, Gall bladder, stomach, Duodenum and Pancreas) and KAPHA (Nostrils, Throat, Bronchi, and Sinuses). It is said that due to the imbalance of these doshas, ill health occurs. As long as these Dosha’s are in balance, good health prevails.
Panchabhoota Siddhantha Theory:- According to this theory, the Universe is composed of five basic elements - the Panch Mahabootas, namely: Prithivi (earth), Apya (water), Teja (fire), Vayu (air) and Akash (space)
Ayurveda is based on the relation between the Tridosha Siddhanta Theory and The Panchabhoota Theory.
